“I typically don’t read third person pov but wanted to give this book a try. It started a bit slow and confusing for me because of the POV but by the third or fourth chapter I really started to get into it. I have never read this author before so it did take me a little bit to get adjusted to the writing style. When I did the book was hilarious. Violet’s inner musings throughout absolutely took the show. She is a beautiful mess, like most of us. She has a lot of mid life issues that are very common. She just continues moving forward and has such a positive attitude about it, I related to her so much as someone with chronic pain. It love that she has such a positive and independent attitude because that is really the way you survive in these instances so it made it very real. There were some punctuation and grammar issues throughout the book but nothing that made it hard to read. Considering this author doesn’t have many books out I think this book is beautifully done. I honestly have never read fantasy books like this one so when the fae elf thing came to light I was extremely confused and almost gave up my reading. I am so glad I stuck with it because Vi was just as confused as I was and Zander took great care in explaining everything to her. It made me actually like the fantasy aspect. All in all this was an amazing book that I would read again.”

Midlife is supposed to be a time of peace and self-discovery, right? That’s what all the books are saying these days, anyway. Violet Devoux just wants a little piece of the pie. Forget that self-discovery nonsense. She doesn’t have time for such things between fibromyalgia flares, drinking coffee until she sees sound, and teasing her college-age son when he comes to visit.

Violet enjoys her self imposed isolation in her small hometown. Long walks with her two dogs, gardening and staying busy writing her latest novels. That’s her idea of peace. Until the hot new barista shows up in time to save her from her worse than usual klutz attacks. His warm soothing voice and glowing eyes the color of her favorite drink are a lure she finds hard to resist.

Zander Teagan has spent centuries exploring his new home. Escaped from his war-torn homeland, He eagerly answers his mate dream. Only to find her as a walking cyclone of disaster. His need to protect his mate battles the fear of scaring her off when he discovers she has no idea who or what she is. Or that the town she lives in is run by her father, the leader of the shifter elves, and all who remain in the pretty little portal town
