Resurrected from death after her suicide, Tara finds herself standing before Lilith, an immortal being laying claim to her soul. Though disregarded by Biblical scholars, Lilith recalls her time as Adam’s first wife, her relationship with Satan, and reveals the truth concerning the relationship between God and mankind. Lilith further explains the alternative to heaven and hell is eternal life with her in the original Eden. Intrigued, Tara wishes to align herself with Lilith, but learns she must prove herself worthy. In order to free herself from both God’s judgement and Satan’s wrath, Tara must kill Corinth, her own mother, Rubin, her abusive stepfather, and Lance, the stepbrother who raped her.
After a visitation from one of Eden’s residents, the infamous, hatchet wielding Lizzie Borden, Tara is further encouraged to slaughter her family. Placing her trust in Lilith, Tara is confident she can commit the perfect crime. However, Rubin has plans of his own and hires a drug-addicted war veteran to kill Tara and Corinth while he and Lance are away in Boston.
Ever resourceful, Lilith enlists additional help to guarantee Tara’s success. Reunited with friends from the Whispering Pines Orphanage, Tara participates in a nightmarish, bloody event that leaves authorities baffled. Left with an unsolvable case, conflicting witnesses, and inexplicable clues, the populace of Millville, Massachusetts will forever refer to the murder scene as “The House of Blood”.
