Songs of Love & Longing

“I think the saying that “You don’t have to love poetry to love poems” is correct. I am definitely not into poetry but having read the author’s novella, Spring Song, I thought I might give her collection of poems a try. As expected, this talented author did not fail me. Borrowing the title of one of the poems in the collection, I must say I was “Spellbound”. The poems are so lyrical, musical and soothe the senses so well. The idea of embedding links and QR codes to the original songs was ingenious, as listening to the songs and reading the poems at the same time just added the magical touch to it all. I especially appreciate the dedication made ‘To all bashful poets’ at the beginning and to “anyone who has ever ached or wept over a beautiful turn of phrase…this one’s for you.” It’s such an encouraging message to all humble and shy talents out there as well as appealing to all those who have their own unique experience from reading the poems – in my case, a feeling of empathy, compassion and love.”
