Freya Victoria

Price range/rate: RS-$250/PFH
Location: Dallas, TX USA
Genre: All

Hi! I’m Freya! I started narrating audiobooks and podcasting a little over a year and a half ago. I am absolutely passionate about bringing stories to life (including writing my own book currently) and have a special love for fantasy, romance, and YA dystopian, although I do narrate a little of everything.

I believe communication is one of the most important things on any project and like to make myself available to authors. You can reach me on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok @freya.victoria.narrates or via email freya@freyavictoria.com

I have a special spot in my heart for self and indie published authors and have narrated over 80 books for Audible and 20 more for my daily fiction podcast I host as Bree Carlile (which is also the name I use to narrate non-fiction).

CKnightWrites

Price range/rate: $0.0035 per word for developmental, line, and copy edits. My “full edits” services involves performing all three of these at this combined rate. If you choose to hire me for only developmental edits or only line & copy edits, they are each also charged at $0.0035 per word.
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Genre: All

I’m a fiction editor with more than a decade of experience offering actually affordable editing services to self-published/indie authors.

My goal as an editor is to make sure your voice is heard, preserved, and developed in the most effective way possible. We’ll work as partners to keep true to the characters you’ve created and the story they need to tell while polishing the work you’ve built so it shines. I will fall in love with your characters, though, so be prepared for me to swoon and gush.

With many editors, you’ll get an individual price for each service (developmental, line, and copy edits). Instead, I offer one rate–well below industry standards–for all three services combined. So, if you hire me for all three editing services, you get all three services, but you only pay one rate! I charge less for higher-quality work because I know what being a self-published author is like, and I know the authors who are most often priced out of services like editing, and I want you to be able to tell your story!

Examples of work:

Kirstin McNeil

Location: London, UK
Genre: Children’s Books

My mission is to bring more joyful inclusive books to children

I’m a Scottish writer, publisher, and mother of two living in London. Through reading with my two boys I discovered how few books truly represent the diversity of people and cultures of the world we live in, and wanted to be part of a positive change in the publishing industry. I’m proud of the impact my books have made on my readers, and how much they are enjoyed by hundreds of children across the world.

Tessa Harris

Price range/rate: Front and rear cover illustrations start at £400; other illustrations start at £200 depending on subject.
Location: Cardiff, UK
Genre: All

I’m a watercolour and mixed-media artist working on book covers and illustrations, as well as other commercial and non-commercial commissions. My style tends towards expressionist and often focuses on portraiture, but I’m open to painting other subjects too, and love to include very subtle hints at storylines in my illustrations. One of the big benefits of working in a traditional medium is the uniqueness of these illustrations, and with my style of watercolour I think the loose elements really add character to a book cover. Anyone who commissions work from me will receive the digital version of any illustration as well as the physical painting.

Gail Delaney Editing Services

Price range/rate: Pricing is based on word count and requested edit. Content/Developmental edits are $4 per 1,000 words. Line editing is $0.01 per word. Proofing is $2 per 1,000 words. Formatting is $2.50 per 1,000 words or or $3.27 per 1,000 words if you would like the proofing/formatting bundle (25% discount for bundled services).
Location: Davenport, Florida, USA
Genre: All

I am an editing professional with 17+ years of experience, beginning as an apprentice line editor. I progressed to acquisitions, executive editor managing a small team, and then 10 years as Editor-in-Chief for a small press where I oversaw 100+ authors, a team of line, content, and proofreading professionals, and managed the release of over 600 manuscripts.

After working for other houses for years, I decided in 2021 to go freelance with a very specific focus on the indie author. It can be expensive to publish a book, and so I attempt to place myself within a more doable range for the indie author. I’m here for your success, and mine.

I understand how to edit your craft without changing your voice, and what elements pertain to each. I am a tough editor, so be warned! 🙂 I am a strong proponent of POV maintenance (no head hopping), active voice, and the Oxford comma (see what I did there?). That is “fat” (you don’t need the word nearly as much as you think you do)! Do or do not, there is no “began to.” I adhere closely to the Chicago Manual of Style for editing guidelines as this is usually the preferred style for fiction works.

I offer content editing (sometimes referred to as developmental editing), which can be the first editing step once an early draft is completed. I also offer line editing, which is often the most detailed and intense editing step as this is when everything from grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, flow, voice, style, and storytelling elements are reviewed at a line-by-line level. And I offer proofreading, which should be the final stage before publication.

I have recently also added book formatting, which can be a standalone service or bundled with proofreading for a discount.

There is a quote request form on my Editing Services website page where you can request a more specific quote and let me know when you would need edits to begin. I do schedule out a few months.
