Pride of the Gozen

“The second book in the Gozen series, Pride of the Gozen has a wonderful “Golden Age of SciFI Space Adventure” feel to it, while still tackling some of the issues of prolonged combat and isolation with a deft touch. In this novel Captain Tann Danre must deal with the fallout from his unit’s battles with a terrorist group in the previous novel, while struggling with his growing feelings for his junior partner, Jyurri. When remnants of the defeated terrorist movement manage to strand Danre on an unexplored planet he must overcome his fears and find a way to survive and get a message back to his unit. Although emotions sometimes run deep, the treatment is never maudlin and the message is one of optimism and hope for humanity as it spreads across the galaxy, learning from its other inhabitants and defending itself where it must. Also, it’s just fun–I mean, who doesn’t love combat between giant mechanized warrior machines? “
