“Rose Gaspard used the zombies of old (in line with the style of Simon Garth comic) to give the reality of the culture. The right amount of details and background bring the reader into the center of the story with understanding and the feeling of being part of it.”

It’s only in sleep that we can experience the real world.

Danger L’Aventure grew up surrounded by magic. She is the daughter of the Adja High Priestess, and chosen child of the primordial god of wisdom, Danbala Wèdo, the Alovi. Magic is her birthright. As one of the Children of Ginen: Adja, Asogwe, and Bizango, the course of her life was predetermined. But that life is derailed when her father is killed by dark magic, and the murderer escapes justice. As an Adja, she is forbidden to use her gift for personal  gain or vengeance. Disillusioned and consumed with rage, Danger turns her back on her house and  magic.

Until the night, while nan domi, she is ordered home by Danbala Wèdo. Dark times are coming and  the houses need the Alovi. She returns home to face her mother and the houses. Now Danger has to use  her burgeoning abilities to protect her family and house against ruthless attacks from a dark practitioner who is turning innocent people into nzumbi for a purpose that will only lead to more deaths.

Danger struggles to control powers she didn’t know she possessed and her attraction to Bizango’s second in command, their enigmatic Emperor Luc St. Vincent. Raised under different magical rules, the two clash from the moment they meet. They must learn to trust each other in order to unmask the Bokor and prevent a nzumbi apocalypse.
